The right humidity level for each industry

What is the needed humidity level per industry?

Several industries can benefit from humidification and temperature control. The optimal temperature and humidity level varies depending on the type of industry and the target

The targets which can benefit the most of humidification control are:

Vegetables

Vegetables contain around 90% of water. If 5% is lost, the commercial value is also lost.

This is why it is necessary to maintain low temperature and high humidity in order to suppress the evaporation of water.

If you set a high temperature and high humidity, there is a risk of microbes growing and causing the vegetable to rot.

Meat and fish

Meat and fish contain about 75% of moisture, and if the surface becomes dry it may become discolored or cause deterioration (growing bacteria).

It is important to prevent water evaporation from the surface to maintain the quality of the products.

Mushroom cultivation

Humidity plays a critical role in mushroom farming because mushrooms consist of 90% water and are highly sensitive to moisture levels in the air. The most suitable humidity level depends on the step of the growing process, but it also varies between the different mushroom types.

Museums and libraries

It is necessary to adjust the temperature and humidity and create a preservation environment in order for the items and books on display to not be altered or deformed.

Printing facility

Humidity control is crucial in the printing industry because it affects paper behavior, ink performance, static electricity and overall print quality. Paper contains around 5-7% moisture which makes humidity control necessary to reduce the expansion and contraction of paper due to the evaporation of water.

In addition, humidity helps to prevent static electricity that causes paper jams as well as dust related incidents.

Computer rooms and data centers

Humidity control in data centers is critical for protecting sensitive electronic equipment and ensuring reliable, uninterrupted operation. If the humidity is too low, static electricity may be generated, which may lead to shutdown or damage to the electronic device. Humidity control is also required to maintain the functions of precision instruments.
