Improved SNCR process

A carbon materials manufacturing plant experienced issues with their SNCR process. The spray nozzles used at the time produced inconsistent spray particle sizes. Coarse, unevaporated particles adhered to the incinerator’s inner walls, causing corrosion of the refractory bricks and mortar. Furthermore, urea precipitation led to nozzle clogging.

The solution

Ikeuchi selected the SETOJet-R Series, an external mixing type nozzle resistant to clogging and offering excellent atomisation performance, proposing it as the optimal nozzle for urea water spraying. Using the nozzle flow rate diagram, we demonstrated that no coarse particles were generated.

The result 

First, testing conducted on one furnace demonstrated improved resistance to corrosion in bricks and mortar. Furthermore, the elimination of drainage and the ability to utilise urea efficiently through complete evaporation resulted in a 40% reduction in urea solution consumption. This confirmed an annual cost saving of around €5.000.
