Checklist: don’t forget the maintenance of your AKIMist®E before the holiday closing!
Maintenance tips for your Dry Fog humidifier AKIMist®”E” before closing during the holidays
During the winter and summer holidays, some factories close for few weeks, leaving all the equipment turned off. If you have installed our Dry Fog humidifier AKIMist®”E” (or any other humidification system that is connected to a water pipe), you need to make sure you don’t leave stagnated water that could get contaminated and risk legionella or other bacterial contamination issue.
So before your holiday shutdown, don’t forget to complete this maintenance checklist to prevent any issue with your humidifier when you return.
Maintenance before the factory closes
- Keep the water supply closed an flush all the remaining water in AKIMist®”E” by spraying until there is no more fog.
- Close the drainage valve.
- Flush the water pipes toward the drainage and make them empty.
- Close the water supply.
Clean the AKIMist®”E” nozzles tip
You can take the opportunity to clean the nozzle tips of the AKIMist®”E” to remove foreign particles or clogging (if needed).
How to clean the nozzle tip
As your system is already off, you can directly remove the nozzles from the AKIMist®”E” body. For a visual explanation of this maintenance process, please check the video below.
If your system is still running, please turn off the air valve from the AKIMist®”E” before removing the nozzles.
- Detach the nozzles by turning them counter-clockwise from the humidifier’s body
- Unscrew the nozzle to separate the tip and the nozzle’s body
- Pull the tip of the nozzle to detach it
- Use the needle from our cleaning kit to push through the nozzle tip and unclog it
- Use the brush from our cleaning kit to clean the inside and outside of the nozzle body
- Reinsert the nozzle tip to the body and screw back to reattach them together
- Reattach the full nozzle to the AKIMist®”E” body, turn the nozzles clockwise
What to do when you come back?
- Open the drainage valve and the water supply.
- Flush the water pipes with fresh water for 2 or 3 minutes. Do not use old water!
- Close the drainage valve.
- Spray the AKIMist®”E” for 2 or 3 minutes for flushing.
