In vertical farming, precise irrigation control is critical due to the presence of sensitive electronics such as LED lights and robotic systems. To prevent damage, the spraying system must direct water only downward, avoiding any moisture above the crops. Ikeuchi has developed a specialized spraying solution designed specifically for vertical farms, optimized for limited space and low spraying heights.

Precision spraying for improved irrigation
Irrigation for mushroom cultivation
Spray nozzles designed for mushroom growing beds must distribute water with an even spray distribution in order to provide an even growth rate. In addition, the spray quantity must be low (approx. 300 µm) in order avoid overwatering. As many mushroom farms are also equipped with LED lights to promote growth, it is also crucial that the spray nozzles only spray downwards in order to avoid any droplets on the lights.
The SSP irrigation spray nozzle is designed for vertical farm irrigation:
- 125° wide spray angle in order to cover a large growing bed at limited spraying height
- Square shaped spray pattern to easily cover square shaped growing beds and to avoid spraying overlap
- Low Spray Impact: approx. 300 µm (classified as natural light rain)
- This spray nozzle is especially developed to only spray downwards in order to avoid damages on LED lights.
Irrigation for lettuce cultivation
Lettuce requires consistent moisture for optimal growth. Water stress can lead to slow growth and bitter-tasting and tough leaves. At the same time, it is important to avoid excessive water use to prevent the potential for disease spread.
