High pressure fogging versus dry fog

High pressure fogging >< Dry Fog

1: Risk of wetting >< Non-wetting

High pressure fogging systems tend to produce a droplet size around 10-50 µm. Droplets around 20 µm need a lot longer time to evaporate than droplets around 10 µm, which makes them more likely to burst on a surface before evaporating. A dry fog system consistently produces droplets with an everage diameter of 7.5 µm. This eliminates any risk of wetting or condensation.

2: Energy intensive

High pressure fogging systems need to operate at very high pressure in order to produce small droplets. This is very energy intensive and requires powerful pumps to maintain consuming significant energy and increasing operational costs. Additionally, water usage can be inefficient due to excess wetting and runoff. A dry fog system runs on compressed air (3 bar) and requires very little energy to produce tiny droplets. In addition, it can easily turn itself on and off once the desired humidity level is reached.

3: Frequent clogging

High pressure fog systems are prone to clogging due to mineral buildup in the fine nozzles, requiring frequent cleaning and maintenance. A dry fog system is designed to prevent clogging. It is however recommended to use RO purified water for minimal maintance.

4: Space requirement

High pressure fogging systems take up a lot of space and piping work compared to other systems. In addition, high pressure fogging systems often need a 5-10 meter distance from the plants to have enough space to evaporate on time. An AKIMist dry fog unit is only 5 inch high (13 cm) and requires minimum piping installations. Due to the easy installation kits, it can be installed to the ceiling or wall and only requires a 3 meter distance from the plants.

AKIMist® Dry Fog system

How does AKIMist® work?

The AKIMist® technology is built around an atomizing unit which combines water, compressed air and ultrasonic waves. Two separate orifices spray out atomized droplets which collide in the center. Simultaneously they generate ultrasonic waves to further atomize the droplets and homogenize their size into less than 10 µm – dry fog.

Benefits of using the AKIMist® Dry Fog Humidifier

Energy and cost

01Energy-efficient

AKIMist is extremely energy-efficient and has an 80% lower energy cost-ratio than conventional humidification systems.

02Cooling effect

AKIMist cools around 2°C while controlling the humidity level. It reduces 20% of the energy used for air-conditioning and thereby saves cost.

03Spot humidification

AKIMist can be used for spot humidification and be placed directly by the source of issue. This reduces the price significantly as only a few units may be needed.

Installation and maintenance

04Little maintenance

AKIMist requires very little maintenance compared to other humidification equipment. In addition, it is very easy to maintain as it is installed within the factory and hanging from the ceiling or wall.

05Easy installation

AKIMist is easy to install and can be fitted into any current HVAC design. AKIMist can be installed with a wall or ceiling fitting or
even as a portable option.

06Compact

AKIMist is very compact. Like the size of a 5 inch smartphone. This makes it easy to fit into tight factory spaces.

Health and Environment

07ESD Reduction effect

AKIMist can maintain an ideal humidification level with the help of a sensor. This significantly reduces the build-up of static electricity in a factory and reduces errors and scrap.

08Dust Supression

Due to the small size droplets, which are as small as dust particles, these droplets can suppress the dust. In addition, the increased humidity also helps to suppress dust.

09Health Benefit

Maintaining a relative humidity level of around 50% will reduce the risk of viruses from spreading between employees. This increases the well-being of the employees and increases productivity.
