Water nozzles: types, applications and how to choose the right one
1: What is a water nozzle?
A water nozzle controls the way water is discharged by converting the pressure of the supplied water into a controlled spray. Water spray nozzles that operate using only liquid pressure are generally known as hydraulic spray nozzles or single-fluid nozzles. Water is forced through the internal structure and orifice of the nozzle to create a specific spray pattern. Depending on the nozzle design, the same water supply can produce anything from a concentrated solid jet to a wide cone of droplets.

Industrial water nozzles can be found in almost every manufacturing sector. Some of the most common applications include:

4: What are the best water nozzles?
There isn’t one single “best” water nozzle. The best nozzle depends on what you want the water to do. In general, each type has a specific advantage, but it is always necessary to check all application needs to make a clear decision. As a general overview:
1. Flat fan — best all-round water nozzle.
2. Hollow cone — best for fine droplets.
3. Full cone — best for coverage.
4. Solid stream — best for impact.

Hollow cone water nozzle
Under comparable pressure, capacity and spray-angle conditions, Hollow cone nozzles produce the smallest mean droplet size among its hydraulic nozzle patterns.
Best for: gas cooling, evaporative cooling, humidification, gas washing, dust suppression and chemical reactions.
Full cone water nozzle
A full cone nozzle fills the entire cone-shaped spray area rather than concentrating the liquid around its perimeter. That makes it particularly suitable when you need uniform water coverage over an area.
Best for: Surface cooling, washing, foam control or fire protection.
Solid cone water nozzle
A solid stream nozzle concentrates the water into a powerful jet. This provides very high localized impact and is useful for high pressure and precision applications.
Best for: Heavy cleaning, cutting and paper/metal trimming.
