The right humidity level for each industry

What is the needed humidity level per industry?

Last week we mentioned how much impact a low humidity level can have on people and on industries. Therefore, installing a humidifier is effective to create a comfortable and optimal working environment.

It is called “air conditioning for industrial use” to create an optimal indoor air environment for quality control and production capacity of animals and goods.

Optimal temperature and humidity conditions vary depending on the type of industry and the target.

Optimal indication of temperature and humidity per industry

The targets are factories such as printing and precision equipment manufacturing, factory where food is manufactured and stored, such as agricultural and horticultural facilities, food storage facilities, but also where electrical components are running like computer rooms.

  • Cabbage, radish, carrot, spinach, strawberry

Vegetables contain 90% or so of water, and if 5% of them is lost, the commercial value is lost.

That is why it is necessary to maintain low temperature and high humidity in order to suppress the evaporation of water.

If you set high temperature and high humidity, there is a risk of microbes growing and causing the vegetable to rot.

  • Meat, fresh fish, cheese

Meat and fish contain about 75% of moisture, and if the surface becomes dry it may become discolored or cause deterioration (growing bacteria).

It is important to prevent water evaporation from the surface to maintain the quality of the products.

  • Mushroom cultivation

Depending on the cultivation process, the most suitable environment is different.

It is necessary to create a suitable greenhouse environment for each process.

Here is an example for each step:

  • Museums and libraries

It is necessary to adjust the temperature and humidity and create a preservation environment in order for the items and books on display to not be altered or deformed.

  • Printing plant

Paper also contains around 5-7% moisture.

Humidity control is also necessary to reduce the expansion and contraction of paper due to the evaporation of water.

In addition, humidity helps to prevent static electricity that causes paper jams.

  • Computer room

If the humidity is too high, condensation may occur to cause a short circuit.

If the humidity is too low, static electricity may be generated, which may lead to shutdown or damage to the electronic device.

Humidity control is also required to maintain the functions of precision instruments.
